Sevylor QuikPak K5 Inflatable Kayak Review

Product Review: Sevylor QuikPak K5 Inflatable Kayak

Company: Amazon

Price Range: $200 - $250

Who Would Buy This: Those going solo who are shopping for an inflatable sit-in kayak which can hold up to 250 lbs. Its quick setup makes it perfect for those looking to take to the waters as quickly as possible.

Pros:

The Sevylor K5 kayak measures 10 feet by 3 feet with the ability to hold up to 250 lbs. There is enough leg room inside for people up to 6 ft. Made from 900D and 1,000D polyester plus laminated with 24-gauge heavy-duty PVC material, this kayaks durability is a step-up from most inflatable’s in its class. The three-chamber boat design and flat bottom provide superior stability so there is minimal sway as you paddle.

As the name suggests, the QuikPak X5 is quick to pack away so you don’t have a frustrating packing task to do after a tiring day kayaking. A large backpack with padded shoulder straps is included so you can pack the kayak away and carry it on your back like a normal backpack.

This kayak employs an AirTight system and features mini and standard double-lock valves to prevent any accidental air loss and to ensure inflating and deflating the boat is quick. Sevylor are so confident in the leak-free ability of this boat that they guarantee it won’t leak.

Storage-wise, the K5 is more than adequate for most. The rear zippered storage area has enough space for a pump and few other accessories. There are also several D-rings and bungee lacing to store items on top which you need at easy reach.

Cons:

The weak area of the Sevylor QuikPak K5 is the quality of the accessories. The included paddle is prone to breakage due to its flawed 3-piece design unlike a regular paddle design consisting of 2 pieces which snap together. Also, there is an issue with the included hand pump. The pump attachments which attach to the two large valves on the kayak have a tendency to come loose so you need some assistance to help you hold the attachment in place as you use the pump. Alternatively, you can use some tape to seal down the attachments.

Guarantee: 1-year limited warranty.

Summary

The Sevylor QuikPak K5 Inflatable Kayak is a fantastic little boat with enough features in its locker to please beginners and most immediate kayakers who are content with keeping on mild waters. Its heavy-duty build quality is highly praised by consumers as well as its stability and handling to keep you above water and in control.

Keep in mind you’ll need some additional paddles as the included ones aren’t good, and you should be a happy camper with this kayak.

  1. I agree,
After beating the hell out of one I found:

Leak in the inside bottom I think I can fix. Slow leak while in ocean. I paddle the Pacific. With heavy water intake front handle sewing on front becomes worn from pulling to shore.
On kayak floor pump port the close valve snapped off so I have to pull it out with a leatherman and put close valve in.
